Unless the person has done something terrible, I believe in giving second chances. There are outlying circumstances that could have contributed to the first impression. The person may be introverted and come across as stuck up. The person may have had something bad happen to them just before you encountered them. The person may feel left out, neglected, forgotten. Instead of making a quick judgement, it's so much more wonderful to try to uncover the root cause and help them get on a better path. Just my 2 cents. 💚

I read somewhere of a theory about first impressions. It said our quickness to form them traces back to a survival instinct of our earliest ancestors. They had to quickly determine whether another human was friend or foe. That need survives to this day. But now, assuming we’ve concluded they are not a threat to us, we can take time to discern the quality of their character.
